Cookie Policy
Version
v1.0.0
This Cookie Policy explains how Stirling PDF, Inc. ("Stirling," "we," "us") uses cookies and similar technologies on our websites and hosted Services. It supplements our Privacy Policy (/legal/privacy-policy), which describes how we handle personal information generally.
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a site stores on your device. We also use similar technologies such as local storage. This Policy calls them all "cookies."
2. The cookies we use
We use the following categories:
Essential. Required for the site and Services to function — signing you in, keeping your session secure, and remembering your consent choice. These cannot be switched off; without them the Services do not work.
Preferences. Remember functional choices such as theme and language.
Analytics (optional). Analytics that help us understand usage and improve the Services. Product analytics are provided by PostHog and hosted in the European Union. Website measurement is provided by Google Analytics, delivered through Google Tag Manager; this involves a transfer of pseudonymous usage data to Google in the United States under Standard Contractual Clauses. In every case the data is pseudonymous usage and diagnostic data — never your file content. Analytics cookies are set only with your consent where consent is required, and you can withdraw it at any time (Section 3). Our Google tags are configured to a default of "denied" for every consent category until you choose.
We do not use advertising, cross-site tracking, or social-media cookies, and we do not share cookie data for cross-context behavioral advertising. If the categories above ever change, this Policy will be updated before the change takes effect.
3. Your choices
The consent banner. On your first visit (where consent is required) the banner lets you accept or reject non-essential cookies — rejecting is as easy as accepting, and nothing non-essential loads before you choose. Change or withdraw your choice any time via "Consent Preferences" in the site footer.
Your browser. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies will break sign-in and parts of the Services.
Declining analytics never affects your ability to use the Services.
4. Self-hosted deployments
Self-hosted Stirling PDF runs in your environment; this Policy covers our websites and hosted Services. Cookies set by your own self-hosted instance are under your organization's control.
5. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy as the cookie inventory changes. The "Effective" date reflects the latest version; material changes will be posted on this page. Changes to our subprocessors (including the analytics provider) carry the notice terms of our data processing agreements.
